TELUK INTAN: The Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT), headed by Minister Nga Kor Ming, has set aside RM42.26 million this year for the construction of new houses and repairs on existing houses in urban areas.

Out of this amount, RM40.26 million will be used for repairing houses, benefiting 2,534 household heads from the B40 group and the hardcore poor. The remaining RM2 million will be allocated for the construction of new houses. Minister Nga explained that this initiative aims to assist individuals from the B40 group residing in urban areas to restore or reconstruct their deteriorated or damaged homes caused by fires, natural disasters, or extreme poverty.

He emphasized the commitment of KPKT to enhance the socio-economic status and living conditions of people, particularly those with low incomes in urban areas. Furthermore, Minister Nga mentioned that RM2 million of the allocation will be distributed to 133 recipients in Perak through their respective local authorities, with each household head receiving up to RM15,000 for home repairs.

He highlighted that KPKT has taken the initiative to implement the Urban Poverty Eradication Programme, aimed at alleviating the financial burden on household heads and improving their overall quality of life. In addition, an allocation of RM820,000 has been announced by the Teluk Intan MP for the upgrade and construction of public infrastructure and facilities, including an indoor volleyball court in the parliamentary constituency.
