Transport Minister Anthony Loke has reportedly stated that the government is reviewing a proposal by a private firm for the construction of an LRT line in Johor Bahru, as per Sinar Harian’s report. During the 15th state legislative assembly held last year, Johor’s Public Works, Transportation, and Infrastructure exco Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh expressed the state’s goal of alleviating traffic congestion by implementing an LRT system.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has instructed MRT Corp to ensure timely completion of the Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link project, as reported by Sinar Harian. Despite facing delays, the project is reportedly progressing well, with MRT Corp actively addressing the issues, according to the minister.

In December of last year, there were reports indicating that Nylex Malaysia had expressed interest in discussing with CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles, a Chinese company, the potential construction of an LRT system in Johor Bahru, which would be linked to the Rapid Transit (RTS) Link connecting Johor Bahru and Singapore.
