Speedy Hire and Niftylift have reached an agreement on a three-year partnership valued at £9m for the first year. Under this partnership, Niftylift will exclusively manufacture and supply zero-emission lifts at its facility in Milton Keynes to Speedy Hire. Additionally, Speedy Hire will receive a fleet of Niftylift hybrid powered access platforms.
The delivery of these machines to Speedy Hire’s Innovation Centre in Milton Keynes is scheduled for July. The hydrogen-electric powered access platforms are equipped with a G20 hydrogen cylinder and fuel cell technology.
These advanced platforms offer the advantage of operating for up to five days on a single charge, with the ability to extend the range using the hydrogen fuel cell. They emit zero carbon into the atmosphere while maintaining reliability.
Dan Evans, Chief Executive at Speedy Hire, emphasized that the hydrogen-electric powered access platform provides a practical alternative to diesel-powered equipment, particularly in the early stages of construction sites where electric infrastructure is lacking.
Speedy Hire has a track record of leading the market in terms of product innovation and sustainability, and the collaboration with Niftylift exemplifies this commitment.
Evans described this groundbreaking technology as a game changer for UK construction companies, enabling them to utilize equipment powered by a zero-emission fuel like hydrogen.
Investing in this partnership with Niftylift allows Speedy Hire to accelerate the sustainable and technological progress within the sectors it operates in, aligning with their ambitious plan to become a net-zero business by 2040, a decade ahead of the government’s target.
