The development of Batu Kawan Industrial Park 3 (BKIP 3) in Bukit Tambun is poised to yield positive economic benefits not only to Penang but also to the northern region.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said this at the groundbreaking ceremony of the BKIP 3 in Bukit Tambun yesterday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the event.

According to Chow, BKIP 3 is the tenth industrial park developed by Penang Development Corporation (PDC), at RM2.2 billion.

“This proves the state government’s commitment, through PDC, to providing more industrial parks to meet the demand from both foreign and domestic investors.

“With a nett area of 407 acres, BKIP 3 is expected to be fully completed in August, 2031.

“There are four phases in total, with the first phase scheduled to be completed in October 2025 encompassing 60 acres.

“Once fully operational, it can cater to industrial land demands, especially from multinational corporations (MNCs), large local companies (LLCs) and small-medium industries (SMIs).

“After all, BKIP 3 will be our new industrial hub in the future and this initiative will bring greater development to Penang and the northern region as well,” he said.

Anwar added that the BKIP 3 project shows that Penang’s development is on the right track.

“Upon completion, it will open up more potential for Penang to continue to grow economically as a preferred investment destination for industry players, local and abroad.

“With the continuous cooperation and synergy between the state government and the Federal government, surely we will be able to achieve even more success that can benefit all the people in the state and country,” said Anwar.

Among the distinguished attendees at the BKIP 3 groundbreaking ceremony were Penang State Secretary Datuk Rosli Isa, Deputy Chief Minister I Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also the Bagan MP, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik and PDC chief executive officer Datuk Aziz Bakar.
