Green tech is the future of construction. The best new technologies include systems that effectively use and conserve energy, reduce waste, and cut down on pollution.

These technologies aren’t just environmentally friendly. They can also save you money on your electric bills and utility costs. If you have a green building project in mind, here are three of the latest green technologies for your consideration.

1. Green Roofs

Green roofs are exactly what they sound like: roofing made with grass or plants growing on top of them. This is a great way to cool buildings naturally while reducing stormwater runoff and improving air quality. You don’t need much equipment to install a green roof, but it’s best left to the professionals.

2. Solar Energy Systems

Solar energy has been around for decades, but it’s still getting better thanks to new solar panel designs and improved efficiency ratings. Adding solar panels to your building project can dramatically reduce your energy costs. There are two main types of solar power systems: grid-tied, which sends excess power back to the grid; and off-grid, which stores its energy in batteries for later use. The latter option is more expensive but may be ideal if you’re looking for true energy independence.

3. Wind turbines

A wind turbine uses wind power to generate electricity without any greenhouse gas emissions being released into the environment. It’s a great alternative energy source harvest from the universe.
