Indonesian domestic worker hiring costs can be decreased, according to the Human Resources Ministry.

12th March, George Town After repeated conversations this month, the Ministry of Human Resources (KSM) is optimistic that the cost of employing Indonesian domestic workers would be reduced.

According to its Minister V. Sivakumar, representatives from the two nations have attended a number of discussions and meetings, including the Malaysia-Indonesia Joint Working Group Meeting, to try to find a solution.

In addition, a meeting will be organised to discuss this subject when the Indonesian Minister of Manpower visits the nation in the middle of this month.

The government wants to make employing domestic help from Indonesia more affordable. At the end of March, I have no doubt that a decision will be made regarding this matter.

After visiting the KSM’s Meet the Clients’ Day here today, he told reporters, “The same issue was also mentioned during the Prime Minister’s visit and the Ministry of Home Affairs’ recent visit to Indonesia.

He clarified that the expense incurred in the source country itself is the reason why employing domestic help from Indonesia now costs about RM15,000.

“The country has multilevel recruitment,” he continued, “where, for instance, the domestic employees are taken from one rural area and may go through multiple agencies before arriving in our country, so the cost gets expensive.

399,827 Indonesians were employed in Malaysia as of January 22 in the manufacturing, construction, plantation, service, agricultural, domestic help, mining, and quarrying industries.

Of those, 63,323 are employed as foreign domestic workers, with Indonesians making up the majority of this group in Malaysia.

The National Human Capital Conference and Exposition (NHCCE) 2023 — Northern Area will take place in Penang from May 31 to June 1, according to a previous announcement by Sivakumar.

He stated that more than 20 speakers and 50 exhibitors representing a variety of businesses will attend the conference, which is anticipated to draw more than 1,000 delegates from the northern region.
