Construction will experience innovation in future as a number of cutting-edge technologies enter the mainstream. A new generation of construction technologies that are on track to define the coming year are being powered by some of the major developments from the previous couple of years, such as 5G and IoT. These advancements in construction technology will have the biggest effects on the sector since 2022, ranging from safety improvements to completely new building techniques. Click HERE to read more.

1. 3D PRINTING

3D printing is one of the most fascinating new technologies that is revolutionising the construction sector. Beyond plastic components or 3D printing tools, this has developed into an entirely new construction platform. Concrete and other similar materials can be printed quickly, precisely, and consistently using construction-grade 3D printers today.

3D printing is expected to become a popular option for housing and other small projects in the future. In fact, construction on the biggest 3D-printed neighbourhood in the world has started in Austin, Texas, 2022. Such initiatives support the construction sector’s sustainability while also avoiding supply chain problems that are holding back numerous conventional projects.

2. VIRTUAL REALITY / AUGMENTED REALITY

VR and AR will revolutionize the construction sector in the upcoming future. The capabilities of professionals on-site and in the office will be increased by the numerous applications of both AR and VR in the construction industry. VR could be used, for instance, to get a first-person perspective of a structure during the project planning stage. Designers could virtually “walk” through a mockup of the building with the appropriate software.

Similar to this, AR could be applied in the field to project a virtual mockup onto a real structure or take hands-free measurements. This is especially helpful when training new employees because AR and VR could be used to provide a secure, hands-on learning environment.

3. DRONES

Although drones have been increasingly used in construction for some time, they will become more significant in future for a number of reasons. The supply chain crisis is adding to the pressure on the construction industry as it continues to struggle with a labour shortage as demand rises. Drones can help with a number of the difficulties the industry is currently facing.

Drones, for instance, can be utilized to speed up site surveys. Similar to how roving surveillance drones that keep an eye on the jobsite greatly simplify site security. Drones provide a way for stakeholders and project managers to monitor progress on-site without making any necessary travel, as working remotely for those in the office becomes more popular.
